Flow Vinyl pick up the pace for summer with two exciting new releases. The first of these comes from Fiord & Tim Richards who are an integral part of the Flow Vinyl family. It also continues the label’s strong connection with the New Zealand progressive house and techno scene.

Fiord are the duo of brothers Barton Strom and Hayden Strom, and the guys behind the Slowburning Studios in Auckland. As Triangle in collaboration with Cyril Orson, they released two of Flow Vinyl’s best tracks of 2010 in ‘Four’ and ‘Five’, while Fiord joined forces with Tim Richards, also from Auckland, and Canadian Joel Armstrong for the mighty ‘Kopi Hitam’. Fiord & Tim Richards remixed the last Flow Vinyl release, ‘Idleness’ by Daniel Mehes.

With this kind of pedigree behind them, the next Fiord & Tim Richards release was bound to be good and ‘It Goes’ more than fits the bill. A bouncy, percussion-led track, it uses the human voice to subtle but thrilling effect, while a killer bassline creates a funk-fuelled ride. With its rolling drums and hypnotic groove, it’s the perfect soundtrack to long, hot summer nights.

As always, Flow Vinyl travel the world with their choice of remixes starting in the UK with Sam Ball. The man behind Maidstone’s Off Key party, one of the best underground nights in the south of England, takes ‘It Goes’ on more of a house vibe with an extra dose of energy and disco-tech. Next stop, Moscow and Nikitin, an emerging name on the Russian electronic scene and one half of Nikitin & Semikashev. Serge Nikitin’s remix is a dark and atmospheric, tribal-tinged workout using the synth sounds to create an intense dancefloor punch.

Completing the package is a remix from Flow Vinyl founder Pena in partnership with fellow Portuguese producer Snk. Pedro Martins is the man they call Snk and together they’ve created a superb slice of dark funk. It’s a sound that Pena has been championing with recent releases and will hit the spot for a broad spectrum of dancefloors. Once again, Flow Vinyl are ahead of the pack.
