Dance music has always been about breaking down boundaries and celebrating life, so it’s fitting that the latest release from Flow Vinyl is a partnership between two artists from different parts of the world: Mike Griego from Buenos Aires and Stas Drive from Ukraine. Together they have crafted three tracks of melodic and colourful electronic music which are sure to bring energy and inspiration to the dancefloor.
Both producers have firmly established their credentials with solo releases receiving major DJ support; Mike Griego on labels like Sudbeat, Replug and Lowbit, and Stas Drive, who also records as Quattar and Salt N Sugar, and remixed Griego’s ‘Asteroids’ on Soundteller Records in 2013. This is their first full collaboration, however, and the results are outstanding. The main track, ‘Mocca Sunset’, sets the scene perfectly with driving percussion providing the foundation for dramatic synth lines and a stunning breakdown. Simple but highly effective, and pure class.
‘Savannah’ also has a strong rhythm at its heart, but at a gentler pace, and with another sublime breakdown. The wide array of synth sounds, almost haunting at times, brilliantly showcase the duo’s studio skills. ‘Final Whisper’ completes this glorious package and takes the energy back up a notch. There’s an almost ‘90s progressive feel to the synths as they wash over the beats. Exceptional work from this duo and Flow Vinyl who continue to raise the bar with every release.
